Starbend Commercial Capital, a small-business funding service in Las Vegas, NV, answers owner questions: using loan money to pay yourself, LLC borrowing, personal guarantors, merchant cash advances, the records partners review, and what Starbend does and does not do for Clark County, NV businesses. Starbend matches requests with funding partners, who review each one and make their own decision.
Using the money
Can an owner draw a salary out of business-loan money?
Generally a business loan is for business purposes, and many agreements restrict how funds are used. Owner draws or salary paid out of borrowed money are a gray area: some partners allow a reasonable owner salary as part of operating costs, others prohibit distributions while the loan is outstanding. Read the use-of-funds clause and ask before drawing anything for yourself.
Can loan money pay for a tax bill?
It can be, as part of working capital. Partners will want to understand why the bill was not covered from operations and how repayment will work.
Will Starbend help with a household or consumer loan?
No. Starbend covers business funding only: no personal, payday, auto title or home loans, and no grants.
Who can borrow
Is an LLC eligible to borrow for the business?
Yes. LLCs, corporations and sole proprietors can all borrow. The entity's records, bank account and tax returns should match the name on the request.
Who is a personal guarantor, and what do they owe?
A personal guarantor is an individual, usually an owner, who agrees to repay the business debt if the business does not. The guarantor's own assets can then be at risk. Some guarantees are capped; others are not. The process page covers when partners ask for one.
Does my business need to be inside the City of Las Vegas, NV?
No. Starbend serves owners across Clark County, NV, including census-designated places such as Spring Valley, NV, Paradise, NV and Enterprise, NV.
Advances versus loans
Does an MCA count as borrowing?
No. A provider buys part of your future card receipts and collects a share of sales until a set total has been collected. The merchant cash advance page has a worked example with the holdback and factor rate.
Why does an advance sometimes cost more than it looks?
Because the factor rate fixes the total collected. If sales are strong and the advance is collected quickly, the same dollar cost is collected over a shorter period.
Records and timing
Which paperwork helps most on the first call?
Recent business bank statements, the latest tax return, a current profit and loss statement, ID, formation documents, and any quote, lease or contract the money relates to.
Will the Starbend form ask for revenue figures?
Yes. Alongside your name, phone, email and optional company name, it asks you to pick a time-in-business band, an annual revenue range and a requested amount range.
When will a partner answer?
That depends on the partner and on how complete the records are. Starbend never quotes a decision date.
